I need a translator (probably a couple of those) to work with IT documentation. This is a long term project, with an opportunity to become a stable member of our team for years.
The source text is in Russian, with all "wonderful" aspects that come with it, such as heavyweight syntax, excessive passive voice, too much formalism, etc. The goal is to convert it into readable, natural English that would not look like word-to-word translation from another language. At the same time, total "transcreation" is impossible, as this is tech documentation, after all.
Please read on for requirements and conditions, and feel free to apply if you think you might be a match.
Requirements:
- Individuals only! No agencies, please.
- Location: Russia (it is okay if you are based in another country but have an opportunity to sign a contractor agreement as a Russian citizen).
- Near-native in English (you are not required to speak like a king/queen, but your writing style must be perfect).
- At least 12-months' experience in IT translations (you should be at least familiar with IT jargon and understand basic concepts; no need to be a geek, you will learn all specific things along the way).
- Experience with any CAT tool. In a nutshell, they are all alike, so if you worked with any, you will easily master another one.
- Team player: you know a lot about teamwork and are ready to discuss and accept decisions other people suggest.
- Able to handle at least 1k words daily and meet tight deadlines.
